A Brief Introduction
Chenhaka Trust is a dynamic, community-driven non-profit organization based in Mutare, Zimbabwe. Founded by seasoned choreographer and cultural advocate Taurai Moyo, the Trust is dedicated to preserving Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage while empowering communities through the creative arts. The name "Chenhaka" is derived from the Shona phrase "Chengetai Nhaka," meaning "Preserve Our Heritage," encapsulating the organization's mission to safeguard and promote cultural traditions.


Key Focus Areas

Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI): Chenhaka Trust strengthens the capacities of artists, groups, and organizations through training in arts business management and creative value chains. Notably, they have conducted a 15-day arts management and business value addition boot camp for 30 players in the arts industry at Chancellor Primary School Arts Centre in Mutare.

Youth, Gender, and Climate: The Trust promotes leadership, environmental advocacy, and gender equality, engaging young people through creative platforms to address pressing issues.

Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR): Prioritizing SRHR among adolescents, Chenhaka Trust works to debunk harmful cultural practices and promote informed health choices.
