Arts Management and Business
The Arts Management and Business (AMAB) was a 15 days capacity building project that was implemented to develop relevant critical skills for arts practitioners to be able to navigate the new challenges and transformations of the industry, especially those introduced by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The project focused on increasing knowledge and professionalism among the artist in Manicaland province through the use of digital platforms as an effective way to promote, commercialize, distribute and export local cultural arts and services goods to the regional and international market.
Thirty-two (32) Artists (13 males and 19 females) attended, completed, and benefited from undoubted knowledge through this project under its 5 main topics namely Management and Financial Literacy, Artistic Freedom and Decent work, Stage Management and Lighting Design, Marketing and Branding as 2 well as Booking and Tour Management.
IMPACT
The artists were exposed to the intricacies of the art industry from a formal viewpoint and we believe they have been empowered to appreciate and approach their careers and creativity through a commercial lens.
The training went a long way in uniting participants of different genres and through this empowerment program, Creative’s saw the need to form an Arts Association/Union in Manicaland Province that will represent them and negotiate and enforce a contract with management/promoters.
Arts management and Business project was funded by Music in Africa Foundation and its partners
